Originally from Brighton, Illinois, Roger is completing his third year as Lead Pastor here at Springfield First. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Emory University and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Preaching from Northern Baptist Seminary.
Previous to his appointment to Springfield First, Roger was the District Superintendent of the Mississippi River District (primarily metro-east area) of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church, supervising over 70 churches and 50 pastors.
Roger has a passion to preach, teach, and provide leadership in turning nominal church members into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
Married to Brenda, they have two grown sons - Blake and Nathan, daughter-in-law Kimberly, and two grandchildren - Hudson and Brinley. Roger enjoys reading, walking, and cycling, and he is currently learning how to play golf.
