The Youth ministry of the First United Methodist Church of Springfield Illinois seeks to introduce students to Jesus Christ, equip them to honor God with their lives, care for one another and serve those in need.
Whether you're in fifth grade, or a college senior we have a place for you in youth and student ministries of First United Methodist Church. The programs are vibrant, fun, instructive, and filled with the love of Christ. Our ministry divides itself into four different groups based on grade level in the public school system. We invite you to take a look and see what these groups are doing. We welcome your prayer support and questions. Fifth and Sixth Grade Ministry:
We meet on Sunday nights (excluding a few holidays) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at our west location. Our focus is on friendship, your place in the church, and preparation for the older levels of the youth ministry. Fifth and Sixth grade is an energetic bunch, ready for a laugh, game, or water fight anytime!
Junior High Ministry:
The Junior High Ministry meets on Sunday night (excluding a few holidays) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at our west location. Our focus is on forming our relationship with our Lord and how that affects our friendships and family life. We talk about things like taking God to school, home and places other than church. The youth are active in planning their own activities and bible study topics, and this group is famous for their annual Duct Tape Olympics.
Senior High Ministry:
The Senior High Ministry meets every Sunday (excluding some holidays) for their regular meeting, and their week and month are usually scattered with service projects, or special events. Our Senior High Ministry is very service oriented, we learn more sometimes by serving others then we do in a bible study, but if you're looking for bible studies we got those too. In the summer you?ll find us in the Appalachian Mountains, doing home repair ministry, a trip that has become a tradition for this group and our church.
High School Guys Small Group
This awesome and dynamic group meets on Tuesday nights in the homes of the leaders from 6-8 PM. Come and join us for pizza, some great bible study, pool, video games, and maybe even a movie or two. Call 793-9760 x 124 if you're interested in being a part of this group.
High School Girls Small Group
This awesome and new small group meets on Monday nights in the homes of leaders from 6-8PM. Come and join them for food, fun, bible study, and talking about the guys, good friendships, and maybe even a little shoppping. Call 793-9760 x 124 if you are interested in being a part of this group.
College Age Ministry:
The College Age Ministry serves a broad group of students and young adults. Our target age is 18-23 (or 24 for those of us who stayed that extra year). We serve those who are away and those who stay in Springfield, as well as those not even in college. A sunday school class will be starting soon, as well as a small group that meets when the students are on breaks. Call 793-9760 x 124 if you want information on upcoming college age events. .
