Worship
We offer three different “types” of worship experiences at First United Methodist Church of Springfield, Illinois. On Saturdays at 5:30 pm, we have Blended Worship and occasionally a Modern worship experience. On Sunday mornings at 8:30, we have Blended Worship Services in which we sing traditional hymns and contemporary choruses. We sometimes utilize a worship band as well as the organ in our blended services.
At the 9:45am, we have a Contemporary Worship Service. In this service, the worship band is the predominant presence to accompany the contemporary choruses in the worship service. We will sing at least one traditional hymn in this service, but the music and style will be contemporary in nature.
At our 11:00 am, we offer a Traditional Worship Experience. In this service, the pastors will be robed and a robed choir will sing an anthem. The predominant accompaniment in this service is the church organ.
Our three pastors rotate in preaching. Whatever your worship experiences may have been in the past, we have created all of our worship to help everyone experience God and grow in the Christian Faith. You are invited to visit any and all of our worship services and choose the one(s) most meaningful to you.
No matter what your preference of worship style is, you can find it at First United Methodist Church. We recognize that no one style is “right” when it comes to worshipping God, but rather, with the diverse backgrounds of people, we recognize that one style may be more meaningful than others. Still, at First United Methodist Church, we believe in gathering for worship with the common purpose of encountering and worshipping God.
